Gas Saving Tips
Gas saving tips are things anyone who drives a car can, and should, be doing to improve their gas mileage. These simple steps combined with basic hypermiling techniques will put you on the road to increased fuel efficiency.
1. Check your tire pressure. Hypermilers set their tire pressure to the sidewall maximum pressure. This allows to car to roll with less resistance.
2. Check your air filter. A clean filter allows your engine to breathe better.
3. Change your oil regularly. Use the thinest allowed oil for your car. This allows the engine to rotate more freely.
Did you know E85 gets less miles per gallon than regular gas?
It's true. The reason is, Ethyl Alcohol; which is the "E" in E85 has less energy per unit of fluid volume than pure gasoline. Since air input remains fairly constant, no matter what type of fuel you use; your engine must burn more E85 to maintain the correct air/fuel ratio. For more information on E85, checkout the E85 article on Wikipedia.
